Dear Members and Friends,
Sri Lanka is experiencing one of the most difficult moments in recent times. Severe storms and extensive flooding have swept across the country, leaving communities devastated, families displaced, and vital infrastructure damaged. Roads, homes, and public services are struggling to recover as thousands of people face hardship and uncertainty.
Our beloved University of Peradeniya has not been spared. Floods and landslides have caused serious damage to multiple areas of the campus—impacting student facilities, academic spaces, and essential services. Many students and staff have been directly affected, with their safety, learning, and livelihoods placed in jeopardy. The loss is not only physical but emotional, as the university community works to rebuild what has been damaged.
As alumni, our connection to Peradeniya runs deeper than education. It is where we formed friendships, learned, and grew. In this moment of crisis, it is our duty and privilege to stand with our university and with Sri Lanka.
President and the Committee of the Alumni Association of the University of Peradeniya – Queensland Chapter, we humbly request your assistance.
If you are able and willing to contribute, please do so through the official relief channels (attached)provided by the Government of Sri Lanka.
Every contribution—large or small—brings relief, restores dignity, and helps rebuild hope.
Let us come together with compassion, unity, and gratitude for the place that shaped us.
With heartfelt thanks,
President and Committee
